This series of images is my official first draft of my Series Project. I wanted to take portraits of people, but not in the sense of Richard Avedon's style. I want to add a bit of life in each picture with a lively background. In the first several images from the bottom, I had a neutral background, but as i continue to work on this project, i hope to add more abstractness to it.
I really like the pictures with a colorful back ground because it brings out the color of the persons portrait. I like how the back ground is not too much, but is perfect, for certain people. i think you should experiment on different kinds of back grounds, so that it can help bring out the portrait better.
ReplyDeleteI really like this series of portraits revealing Richard Avedon's style. The various emotions and different lighting truly provide this series with originality. I think all are successful.
ReplyDeleteI like how the backgrounds are simple so the focus is on the person
ReplyDeletea great start. try to work with your models more to evoke authentic expressions. you might try to trigger expressions through questions or conversation. think about how you position them (center or off-center), and continue to explore ways to use background/abstraction without overpowering the subject. look at Anton Corbijn:

and his book "star trak"
I really like the first photo you took of kenna. It is really whimsical and it really makes you think about what was on her mind and what her questioning look for. Overall, good job!
ReplyDeleteYou did a very good job with this assignment! I like how you chose to do colorful background as appose to plain white. I think it really adds tho the photograph! (im not a fan of picture #2.....its awk) lol
